Discovery Mining (TSX: DSV; US-OTC: DSVSF) sees scope to more than triple annual gold production within five years around Timmins, Ont., with its newly acquired Kidd processing site, Executive Vice-President Mark Utting says.
The company is targeting 750,000 to 1 million oz. a year, compared with about 235,000 oz. produced by its Porcupine operations last year. Discovery is drilling 280,000 metres this year to support expansion plans in the mining district, about 680 km north of Toronto by road.
“So, we’ve got this opportunity to make Pamour a lot bigger, to bring Dome Mine back into production,” Utting told The Northern Miner. “How are you going to process it? Enter the Kidd operations.”
Expanding Discovery beyond its processing capacity requires new infrastructure and investment. Utting expects an updated technical report in late January or early February to set out resources, mine plans and capital requirements.
